“Real DJs don't have a tan”, even when they live in sunny Miami, Florida. So says Danny Daze, a self professed studio nerd who feeds of music. He began Djing at only 13 years of age, and progressed to studio production at 18, all while releasing white label Techno and Electro records via his OMNIAMM imprint throughout his teenage years. He went on to top his Sound Engineering class at SAE, and hasn't looked back since. With over 30 releases to his name for labels such as Hot Creations, Nervous Records, Slow Roast, Plant Music and many others, he's become a young veteran of the US house and techno scene. From remixing the new underground hype, to being nationally televised on 'Live w/ Regis & Kelly', Danny's seen both ends of the spectrum. He's been touring the U.S., Canada & Asia for the last 4 years and has now fully focused himself on jumping the pond over to Europe.
2011 will most certainly be a breakout year for Daze. His track 'Your Everything' caught the ears and hearts of Jamie Jones, and Lee Foss of Hot Creations, and that track became the undeniable highlight of the 2011 Miami Music Week. Being played up to three times a night by the likes of Seth Troxler, Jamie Jones, Art Department. The flip side, 'Fall Away from Love' is another instant classic in the disco vein, already receiving its debut on BBC radio, and supported by Matt Tolfrey, Azari & III, Classixx and many others. Out on Hot Creations in June, it's being heralded as one of the biggest records of the year. Not bad for a pasty studio rat from Miami!
With extensive touring, remixes and original releases planned over the coming year, expect to hear much more from Danny Daze!
Lee grew up in Western Michigan and eventually moved to Detroit, living the guitars-to-turntables, concerts-to-underground-parties arc shared by so many other children of the electronic music revolution. The similarities end there though. Lee displayed an immediate knack and passion for dance music that translated his love of Prince, Quincy Jones, and good old underground disco into a production and DJ style noted for its sensuality and effortlessness. Recently back in Detroit after an extended stay in Berlin (where he laid the foundations for Visionquest, currently techno’s most innovative new label, with Seth Troxler, Ryan Crosson and Shaun Reeves), Lee continues to produce vital releases and remixes on labels including Spectral Sound, Supplement Facts, Get Physical, Culprit, Dumb-Unit, Wolf+Lamb, Esperanza, and Mothership, and play DJ gigs the world over.
Lee’s previous trans-Atlantic tours have seen him play at some of Europe’s most important clubbing institutions including, fabric (London), Panoramabar and Watergate (Berlin), The Rex (Paris), Fuse (Brussels), Cityfox (Zurich), and the UK’s BLOC Weekender Festival two years in a row. He’s recently torn up the Toilets in East London for Kubicle, supported long standing friends Wolf+Lamb in Paris and look his, as Resident Advisor described it, ‘libidinous tech funk’ to Bristol, Leeds, Cardiff and Aberdeen. On the other side of the Pond, Lee is a regular fixture at The Detroit Electronic Music Festival and plays regularly at Wolf+Lamb’s legendary parties at The Marcy Hotel in Brooklyn.
Lee’s back-to-back live set with Ryan Crosson, at the recent sold out Visionquest showcase at fabric, stole the show boding well for a summer which will see him repeat his live show at some of the world’s most famous clubs and festivals alongside a packed schedule of DJ gigs, both solo and as part of Visionquest.
